The Power of No

Youth‑focused campaign to stop drink driving in Southeast Asia

The Power of No is a regional campaign that aims to stop drink driving among young adults in Southeast Asia by making “no” the normal answer when alcohol and driving collide. Focused on people of legal drinking age in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, the campaign’s core belief is that every young person has the power to protect themselves, their friends, and their community by refusing to drive after drinking and by refusing to ride with someone who has been drinking.

At its heart, Power of No is about safer roads and safer lives. It exists to reduce crashes and deaths linked to drink driving, to help young people recognise risky situations before they happen, and to support a culture where speaking up and choosing a safe way home is seen as a positive, expected behaviour. The campaign’s mission is to change how drink driving is viewed across Southeast Asia—away from something casually accepted or ignored, and towards something that young people actively reject because they value their own safety and the safety of others.
