A first for responsible drinking in the region
Moderation Week Across APAC was the first industry‑wide campaign in Asia Pacific dedicated solely to promoting responsible drinking and reducing harmful alcohol consumption. Led by APISWA and partner associations, the week‑long initiative brought together more than 18 trade bodies representing spirits, wine, and beer producers, signalling a shared commitment to tackling harmful drinking and fostering a stronger culture of moderation across the region.
During Moderation Week, APISWA and its partners launched the Responsible Drinking APAC website, new reports such as The Road to 2030: A Partnership Approach to Reducing Harmful Alcohol Consumption, and a suite of infographics and educational materials that helped adults of legal drinking age better understand alcohol, health, and national drinking guidelines. The campaign also shone a light on critical issues that still need attention in many markets, including heavy episodic drinking, lack of clear national guidance, gaps in legal purchase age rules, and the health and safety risks posed by illicit and unrecorded alcohol.
By the end of the week, Moderation Week had set a new benchmark for cross‑border cooperation on responsible drinking in Asia Pacific. It showed that when producers, trade associations, and partners work together around shared evidence and clear messages, they can help adults make more informed choices, support national health goals, and contribute to long‑term efforts to reduce harmful drinking across the region.
